ovale was also detected, but its prevalence in the
general population is about 25%, so it is often an
incidental rather than a pathological finding.

●Dr. Eric M. Isselbacher’s　Diagnosis
　Chagas’ cardiomyopathy with apical left ventricular
　aneurysm, superimposed thrombus, and renal
　infarcts.

●In this　case, the immunofluorescence assay was positive
for antibodies (titer, 1:128; positive titer, >1:32).
ELISA was performed and was positive at 3.112
ELISA units. Repeated testing 3 months later remained
positive at a titer of 1:64 and 3.659 ELISA
units.
