6　宗教は世界平和に貢献してきたが、同時に分裂、憎悪、戦争をももたらしてきた。
我々は個人としても集団としても、人類全般、地球、生きとし生けるものに対し、悔恨と互いに恕し合う誠実な行動を呼びかけねばならない。信仰心をもつ人々は、これまで余りにも多く自らが説く崇高な理想を裏切ってきた。

平和とは愛、慈しみ、人間の尊厳、公平が完全に保たれることを意味している。

6 宗教は世界平和に貢献してきましたが、その一方で、分裂、憎悪、そして戦争のきっかけにもなってきました。

私達は、一般的な人類に、地球とすべての生き物に、お互いに、個人にも集団にも、悔い改めと相互赦しの誠実な行動を求める義務を感じています。宗教人は、あまりにも頻繁に自らの説いた高い理想を裏切ってきました。
