What is a Light Novella?

This specific Japanese novel style evolved from pulp magazines . Light novellas are especially popular among middle- and high- school students, preserving specific style and linguistic expressions.

To give an insight into Japanese "otaku" content to international crowds, Conyac 3 novels into English.

Three Light Novellas and their path to international crowds

English versions of the novels are a result of the Conyac translation contest initiated this summer. In order to deliver the most genuine reading experience for all light novella fans, Conyac organized three separate contests for publications Alice’s Tale (アリスの物語), The Akiba Labyrinth: A Little Trip with My Little Big (アキバ迷宮~小さな先輩と小旅行~) and Whether It Rains or Shines Tomorrow (明日が雨でも晴れでも). To preserve full the meanings and nuances of the novels, Conyac’s translators created a glossary that thoroughly explains some words and expressions, essential for understanding the circumstances within the stories.
