2012年のエタノールの使用義務量は139.5から152億ｶﾞﾛﾝ/年に引き上げられる予定であり、エタノール需要は当政策によって9%増加する見込みである。一方、供給面では、これまでバイオエタノールをガソリンに混合する精製業者に対し、￠45/ｶﾞﾛﾝの減税措置が設けられ、輸入エタノールに対しては￠54/ｶﾞﾛﾝの関税が課せられていた。しかし、これらの優遇措置は2011年末で期限切れの為、今後、エタノール業者は厳しい経営環境に陥る可能性がある。

The mandatory use of ethanol will be raised from 13.95 billion to 15.2 billion gallons/year in 2012, and the government expects the demand to increase by 9%. On the supply side, the refiner blending bioethanol into gasoline was given $0.45/gal tax-break.$0.54/gallon tariff was applied to imported ethanol. However, these preferential tax treatments expired in 2011 so the ethanol traders may experience a severe business environment from now on.

The required minimum consumption for 2012 is planned to be raised from 13.95 billion gallon to 15.2 billion gallon per year. On the other hnd, from supply side, there have been tax exeremption of 45 cents per gallon so far for refiners mixing bioethanol with gasoline, while 54 cents per gallon custom for imported ethanol. However, these beneficial rule will expire at the end of 2011, so the ethanol manufactures may be swamped in serious business environment.
