Kamui Kobayashi (sauber) finished his official preliminary contest for FI China GP in 4th place. Since Lewis Hamilton got a penalty because of his gearbox, it is decided that Kobayashi will start from 3rd glide.

「とても嬉しい！ この結果は、チームが素晴らしい仕事をしてくれたからだ。このところ予選性能の強化の必要を言ってきたが、今日の改善は明らかだよ。明日のレースは、ルイスがギヤボックスを交換するので僕は3番グリッドからのスタートになる。大きなチャンスを意味するポジションだ」
「ただ、僕は夢想家じゃないので、可能な限りポイントを取るというスタイルは変えないよ。僕たちのマシンは基本的にはタイヤを傷めない。明日はきっと不安のないレースができるだろう」
