日本の「選挙活動」として知られているものの手順は次の通りだ。議員なり市長なり候補者が選挙カーに乗り、約一週間、選挙地区を回り続ける。街中で老若男女にスピーカーから呼び掛け、車の窓から絶え間なく身を乗り出し、手を振り続ける。街角ではマイクを通して「政策」を宣言し、人々の記憶に残るようにとかく名前を連呼する。少しでも手を振り返してくれる「支援者」を見つけたならば、候補者はスタッフと共に大急ぎで握手へと急ぐ。まるで「芸能人」だ。そしてこの「選挙運動」には莫大な金がかかる事で有名だ。

The election campaign process known in Japna is as followed. The candidates for legistrators or mayors go around their electoral districs in a car for about a week. In a downtown they speak to everybody on the street and incessantly sticking their hands out of their car window, waving their hand to anybody while driving.
