A multinational clinical trial
is currently under way to assess whether trypanocidal
therapy affects mortality and cardiovascular
outcomes in patients with chronic Chagas’
disease without advanced cardiac involvement
(ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT00123916).



We presented
this patient’s case to a panel of consultants
at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
who agreed that he met the criteria for treatment
and provided nifurtimox to us. We were required
to obtain approval from this hospital’s institutional
review board for compassionate use in order
to dispense the medication to the patient.

多国籍臨床実験により、現在、殺トリパノソーマ療法が、進行した心臓の症状の見られない慢性シャ―ガス病患者の死亡率や心血管の結果に影響を与えるかどうか調査されている最中だ。(ClinicalTrials.gov ナンバー NCT00123916）

我々は、この患者の事例を、疾病管理および予防センターの、この患者が治療の基準を満たしていると認め、我々にニフルチモクスを提供してくれた専門医師団に提出した。我々は、その患者にその薬物を配布するために、病院の規格審査会から、その薬物の特例使用を許可してもらう必要があった。

世界各国を対象としたクリニカルトライアルが、抗トリパノソーマ薬治療が心障害のない慢性ジャガス病患者の心血管系の病気と死亡に関与するかどうかを現在調査中である。(ClinicalTrials.gov 番号、 NCT00123916)

この患者のケースを連邦防疫センターのコンサルタント委員団に提出し、そこから治療の基準を満たしていることの同意を得た後、ニフルチモックスが提供された。治療薬を患者に投与するためには、この病院の施設内治験審査委員会のコンパッショネートユースに関する評議委員の承認を必要とした。
