日本政府観光局（ＪＮＴＯ）が７月２３日に、インドネシア外務省より事務所設置に係る承認を得た。今後、現地での法人格取得等の諸手続きを経て、早ければ本年１０月に事務所を開設する見込み。同事務所はJNTOの14か所目の海外拠点となる。
インドネシア市場は注目される東南アジア域内でも最大の人口を有し、昨年訪日客数が初めて１０万人を突破するなど、成長著しい市場として注目されている。現在、インドネシアはシンガポール事務所が管轄している。
