日本商品化権協会は、2月4日、「日本商品化権協会賞」を発表。
2012年日本国内で活躍したキャラクター、海外で活躍した日本発キャラクターを対象に、キャラクターがもつ顧客吸引力を高めた施策を実施した団体、個人を表彰した。
受賞4作品は、事務局の収集した合計141件のプロパティと約500件の著作からノミネートされ、一次、二次審査で最終選考に残ったもの。
審査委員長として総評を語った早稲田大学名誉教授の亀井昭宏氏は、「記念事業としてスタートしたが、今後の継続を期待している」と述べた。

On February 4, Japan Merchandising Rights Association announced 'Japan Merchandising Rights Association award'. Among the characters made in Japan which played an important role at home and overseas in 2012, the association made honorable recognition of the organizations and individuals who carried out policy measures to promote the attractive forces for customers.
Four prize-winning works are nominated from 141 properties and about 500 literary works in total and were short-listed after the first and the second round.
Akihiro Kamei, a professor emeritus at Waseda University and the chairman of the awards committee said, "this award was started as a memorial event, but I hope it will continue."

It will praise an individual or a group of people which work for introducing Japanese fictional character to attract customers.
Popular fictional character in Japan and popular Japanese fictional character abroad will be the subject to examination.
