Book an appointment with a doctor in Vietnam with Yton.vnThe healthcare system in France is awesome. French citizens get a card with a chip that tracks their entire medical history, and incorporates their credit card, their health insurance, and their favorite doctors and hospitals all in one place. For folks in Southeast Asia, this is totally futuristic. In Vietnam, it’s decades away. That’s why finding medical startups in Vietnam is exciting. Last year, we wrote about Wish.vn, a startup that wanted to build a healthcare social network. Unfortunately, that startup is now in the deadpool. But Yton.vn is still going strong.
Yton.vn, instead of setting out to be a business-to-consumer platform like Wish.vn, is business-to-business. It’s an appointment booking platform for patients and doctors. Since launch last year, Yton.vn has accumulated over 100,000 registered users and is currently working with 103 clinics, hospitals, and personal doctors, mainly in Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital. The system allows patients to log on and book an appointment with their favorite doctors. This is especially convenient for Vietnamese patients and is a new frontier for a system that is entrenched in bureaucracy and scheduling problems.
Going to the hospital or clinic in Vietnam often leads to long lines and often unnecessary waiting. Yton.vn streamlines this process. The problem with this model is that Yton.vn staff have to go from clinic to clinic and convince the doctor or staff of each clinic to join the platform. That’s also an opportunity, since Yton.vn is the one educating the market about getting the appointments system online.
Yton.vn is looking to evolve into a social media network, which might hint at a similar angle as Wish.vn. The difference is that Wish.vn didn’t start with a base in doctor appointments. Thus, Yton.vn is looking to take its current data and user-base and make it social by allowing users to rate clinics, share about their experiences, and talk to other people interested in health. The Yton.vn team says that this social media element will still remain auxillary to its core scheduling platform.Sources near Yton.vn have stated that the unnamed financial backers of the startup are a medical company, and they may also be opening up a healthcare startup accelerator in the near future.

We’ve seen a similar product in bottle form before on IndiGoGo, the BluFit Bottle, but it didn’t reach its goal. Cuptime raised RMB 1,358,583 ($224,466) on Demohour by January 16.Kuai Anniu: add an extra physical button to your smartphoneSince touchscreens have emerged as the status quo for smartphones, manufacturers have been straying further and further away from physical buttons. For those who aren’t satisfied with the typical power, volume up, volume down combination, Kuai Anniu (translates to “Fast Button”) could be your solution. Stick the device in your Android phone’s headphone jack and voila!

1. OddJobberOddJobber, made by a startup called IdeaCentricity, sees itself as a service platform that taps into the skill-sets of low-income workers. It aims to create a marketplace for laborers with a variety of practical skills, sort of like the numerous marketplaces there are out there for crowdsourcing web design work from global freelancers. But IdeaCentricity will be more local.OddJobber covers everything from rickshaw drivers to hawkers to domestic workers. It’s running as a pilot in Lahore where you can book a rickshaw online or SMS “ric pickup” and a destination address to 8001. (Update: Corrected that the service has launched; added link).

Plus the brand will engage with NGOs and microfinancing companies on behalf of its farmers.
Basically, we would like to act as a supply and demand platform, where in startups, creative people and others can share their problems or obstacles around their ideas; and backers can come to help solve those problems leveraging their wisdom. This helps to lower risks as well as allows startups to pitch better for their ideas and projects.Expanding the ideaCollisionable Networks was among the 14 selected startups for Berkeley’s acceleration program, wherein it had to undertake Webex-based interactive sessions over six weeks. “During those sessions, we were asked to interview real customers and solve real problems using a prototype of our product,” says Sharma.

Square-like Chinese startup QFPay swipes $16.5 million in series B fundingQFPay, maker of a Square-like gadget for taking e-payments via a smartphone, has secured series B funding worth $16.5 million, 36Kr reports today. It hasn’t been revealed who the investment is from, but it’s worth noting that QFPay’s first major round of funding back in early 2013 was led by Sequoia Capital.QFPay’s main product is QPOS, which looks like a mini calculator. It connects wirelessly to Android tablets or phones, or iPhone or iPad; or there’s a wired version that hooks up to a PC. It can be used by retailers of all sizes to take credit card or bank card transactions.
110,000 businesses using itQFPay – one of China’s leading startups in this business-oriented e-payments sector – claims to have 110,000 businesses using its gadget right now. That’s up from 10,000 when we looked at the company during its previous funding round. Its QPOS service sees over RMB 100 million (more than 17 million) processed in payments each day.But this startup is up against rivals both big and small. There are similar products aimed at retailers, such as Lakala and iBoxPay, plus web giants such as Alipay (by Alibaba) and WeChat (by Tencent) are pushing consumers into mobile payments via their own e-payment platforms.Check out the Chinese demo video here of QPOS in action:

Feeling flabby? This startup will put a personal trainer right in your handsHealth and fitness apps, while all the rage these days, typically fall into two camps. The first group measures your movements and dishes out advice – the Fitbit and Nike Fuelband fall into this category. The second group uses peer motivation to keep you on track with meeting your goals – Lift best exemplifies this. But Fulfilled, a Singapore-based startup, doesn’t fit neatly into these categories. Instead, It marries the specificity of advice from a personal coach with the convenience of a mobile or web app.
Here’s how it works: by paying S$39 ($30) a month, users get direct access to one of the company’s personal trainers, who will help the client set goals, create a healthy eating and exercise program, and hold them accountable for their progress. Users also get access to a social network of like-minded members for mutual reinforcement. The overall experience is quite involving. Immediately after download, Fulfilled prompts users to fill up a detailed – and rather intimidating – questionnaire. A coach then contacts them for a phone conversation to better understand their needs. Payment is only collected if they decide to proceed with the program.
