ここ福島の会津地方には400年以上にわたり受け継がれてきた「起き上がり小法師」手工芸品。
会津地方では、何度倒れても必ずまた立ち上がる不屈の精神が郷土玩具となっています。
会津では新年を迎えると、毎年新しい起き上がり小法師を必ず家族の人数よりも1つ多めに買うのだといいます。
子どもがたくさん生まれ、家庭が円満であるよう願うのです。

築125年の家だけに、古い趣に満ちています。
ところどころに暮らしの足跡が見られるからか、とても温かみを感じます。
