クレイジーキルトの原則とは、起業家は起業に際して様々なパートナーの協力やコミットを獲得し、予想できない環境に対して柔軟に対応し、新しいゴールを利害関係者と共に作り上げていくという考え方である。この考え方は、パズルを解くのか、パッチワークキルトを作るのかにも例えられ、パズルはそれぞれのピースが１つのポジションしかないのに対し、パッチワークキルトはランダムなパッチから他人と協業してゴールを作り出していく。

The principle of Crazy Kilt is an idea where entrepreneurs gain much cooperation by their partners and their commitments, handle the unimaginable flexibly, and keep establishing new goals with those involved in the business. This idea is compared to making a patchwork kilt; while each piece has only one position, patchwork kilts are conducted randomly with others and such people keep making the goals together.
