Regarding receipt of the item, you do not need to directly contact with the customs. Courier company in US will directly deliver the item to your house.
About tax, there might be certain amount to be imposed.
However, I will use the shipping method to avoid tariff as much as possible. Also, I will undervalue the amount so even if you have to pay tax, the amount should be small.

There are many customers in CA, so I'm used to shipping to CA.
