詩織は母の日記に残された昭和63年、高１当時の思い出を読み返し、7月18日にガス事故で母の同級生たちが亡くなったことを知った。今日が命日だったのだ。母親の母校である「北山田高校」は、今は廃校となっており近日中に取り壊されることになっていた。詩織は母の代わりに廃校となった高校を訪ねる事を決意する。

Shiori stumbled upon a memory in her mother's diary from 1988, when her mother was in her first year of high school, and through it came to know that everyone in the same grade as her died on July 18th that year because of a gas leak accident. Today is the day of their death. Her high school, "Kita-Yamata High" is now abandoned, and recently there has been plans to demolish it. Shiori decided that she would pay the ruined school a visit, in her mother's stead.
