日本に住んでいた時、日本の最南端にある島の一つである西表島というところで3ヶ月働いていた時のお話し。当時東京で働いていたのだが、単に時給で働いていることを無駄と感じ、同じ1時間をもっと有意義のあることをしたいと思い、その当時行ってみたかった場所の一つである沖縄へ行った。特に何も考えず沖縄へ船で行き、現地の人に話しを聞いて様々な島にあるホテルやコテージで働きながら暮らせることを知った。若かった私は何の計画性もないまま沖縄へ行ったことで、当日のホテルも予約しないまま行った。

This is a story from when I lived in Japan and worked for 3 months at Japan's southernmost island, Iriomote Island. Though at that time I was working in Tokio, feeling that it was pointless to work just for that hourly wage, I thought that I wanted to do something more worthwhile on that same hour and so I went to one of the places I wanted to go back then, Okinawa. Without any particular thought in mind, I took a boat to Okinawa and decided to live by working at hotels and cottages and hear the stories of the locals. That young me, without any planning whatsoever, went to Okinawa without even making a reserve on a hotel for the day.
