Amazon Goes It Alone in China, With a New Name and URL

The American e-commerce site Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) has made some big changes to its China site today – there’s now a new name and a new short URL, in a sign that the company is ready to stand alone on its global brand. Formerly called “Joyo Amazon” – after buying out Joyo.com seven years ago in order to enter China – the name is, starting this morning, simplified to just “Amazon.” The new Z.cn URL serves as an easy-to-remember shortcut to the ongoing Amazon.cn homepage.

米国発の Eコマースサイト、Amazon（NASDAQ：AMZN）は、本日、自身の中国サイト上で大きな変更を行った。新しい名前へと変更し、新たにショートドメイン名も発表した。当企業が世界的なブランドとして単体化していくことがうかがい知れる。中国での事業展開のため、7年前に Joyo.com を買収した際に "Joyo Amazon" との名をつけその名で知られていた Amazon だが、今後は今朝短縮化された "Amazon" として事業展開していく。 新しいドメイン名の z.cn は覚えやすく、現在の Amazon.cn のホームページへ簡単に飛べるようになっている。
