Lots of startups are trying to improve international money transfers so as to stop people getting fleeced by banks or by the god-awful Western Union. BitNexo is one of these, but it’s doing so for a very specific area – for business deals between China and Latin America.

Founder Darren Camas – who splits his time between China and Chile – explained in the pitch that the transfers are done via bitcoin, but users never need to touch bitcoin during the process. This means it’s not technically a bitcoin transfer, which is an important detail for the China market where banks are prohibited from allowing customers to deal in bitcoin.
