映画では彼の外の生活での戸惑い、外の生活と刑務所内での働く温度差、そこに馴染めずに鬱になる様子が彼の表情とともにうまく表現されている。レッドのシーンだが、仮釈放の許可が下りるか下りないかが判断されるインタビューでは更正出来たかと聞かれる。更正できたと判断されず仮出所の許可が降りないことは残念とされるが、実際に許可が下りて外の生活に出れば、外の生活があまりにも違い過ぎてそれに馴染めない。まるで外に出た事の方が残念という感じだ。
