工業製品の品質の概念は、以前は「規格への適合の程度」であった。
顧客の要求の多様化によって、現在は「要求への適合の程度」に変ってきている。
これは画一的な規格では、それへの適合では必ずしも顧客の満足を得ることはできないからである。
さらに杜会・環境への影響を考慮した杜会的品質の概念が生まれてきている。
即ち、製品およびサービスの品質の良し悪しを定める一般的基準は、規格ではなく、それらが顧客の要求に合致しているかどうかである。
製品またはサービスが顧客の要求を満たしているかどうか。

The concept of quality of industrial products was formaly " the degree of compliance to the standard".
However, the diversification of requests of customers has been changing this concept to "the degree of compliance to the request".
The reason is that one-size-fits-all standards can not always raise customer satisfaction.
In addition, the concept of social product quality which is taking into account the impact on society and the environment has been developed
It means that a general standard that determine the quality of products and services is not a standard but whether they meet the needs of customers, in other words, whether those products or services meet the demands of customers.
