A new collaboration between Mainichi Shimbun and Excite Japan is doing something similar, presenting special editions of the newspaper from all the way back in the Meiji and Taisho eras. These ‘extras’ or Gogai include accounts of important historical events like the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War and the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.

Besides the special editions, there are a number of old photographs included with the application as well. There are 15 from the Meiji period and eight from the Taisho period.

毎日新聞とエキサイトジャパンの新しい共同制作は、明治時代と大正時代にさかのぼった新聞の号外を示しながら、同様のことを行っている。これらの「特別版」或いは号外は、日露戦争の勃発や1923年の関東大震災といった歴史的に重要な出来事の記事なども含まれている。

特別版に加えて、アプリケーションには多数の古い写真も含まれており、明治時代から15点、大正時代からは8点が含まれている。
