Sometimes the gold plating gets a little tarnished and usually we do a quick polish before sending the mouthpieces out. We must have not noticed your mouthpiece needed to be polished. Try using some gentle silver polish on the mouthpiece. That should take off any stain. If you are referring to shank scratches, YAMAHA often play tests their mouthpieces and sometimes they leave some light shank scratches on their new mouthpieces.

　時には金メッキはすこし変色します。それで、通常こちらからマウスピースを出荷するときには簡易磨きをいたします。私どもはあなた様のマウスピースは磨きが必要とは思っておりませんでした。柔らかい銀磨きでマウスピースをみがいてください。汚れはとれるはずです。軸部（？）のキズのことを言っておられるのでしたら、YAMAHAはマウスピースのテストを度々しますが、その結果、新しいマウスピースでも軸部に軽微な擦りキズが残ります。
