Fast Retailing Co. opened its largest Uniqlo outlet in the world Monday in central Shanghai.

The building also houses outlets for four other Fast Retailing brands, including GU, and demonstrates the group’s growing presence in Shanghai, home to many global casual fashion brands. The GU store is the first outside Japan.

The Uniqlo outlet has 6,600 sq. meters of sales space, far surpassing the 5,000 sq. meters in the Ginza store in Tokyo, which was the chain’s biggest before the Shanghai store came along.

The combined floor space for the Uniqlo and four other outlets stands at about 8,000 sq. meters.
