The reason for the question mark after the words UK in the title of this chapter is that are many challenges to the kingdom's unity.
One French newspaper recently called it the Disunited Kingdom.
The challenges are social, economic,national,political,and,to a lesser exant,linguistic and religious.
The social and economic challenges include a bigger gap between rich and poor than in most other European countries.
There's also a worry about gang culture,too much selfshness,and that too many people at all levels of society are showing a lack of restraint and responsibility.

本章のタイトルの中のUK（イギリス）という語の後に疑問符がついている理由は、連合王国の統一には多くの課題があることによる。
あるフランスの新聞は最近、連合王国（United Kinddom）を「分裂王国」（Disunited Kingdom）と呼んでいた。
課題は社会、経済、国家、政治分野に亘っており、より小さな課題として言語や宗教の問題も存在する。
社会・経済的課題には他のヨーロッパ諸国と比較して貧富の差が大きいことも含まれる。
また、ギャングカルチャーや過剰な自己本位主義、そして社会のあらゆる階層の人々に自制心や責任感が欠けていることへの懸念もある。
