日本研究家で知られる米国のバートカレッジ教授の言葉に「日本は太古の時代から神や自然を鎮めるための供え物、捧げもの等の儀式が多い。一神教（キリスト・ユダヤ教）とは違い規律や教義を特に設けない。故にそこにあるのは神や自然への敬意である。」というのである。我々日本人は人種問わず、互いに敬意を示す術に秀でており、それを行動に移せる民であるかも知れない。

It's different from monotheism (Christianity and Judaism) and there are not special rule or doctrine. Thus, there are respects for god and nature." We, Japanese, may be a people who can show respect to each other regardless of race and can move it to the action.
