東京から車で南に1時間程の所にサーフィン等で有名な湘南という場所があります。そこでまるは育ちました。毎朝、日の出と共に海岸で遊び、ゴールデン・レトリバーのような大型犬とプロレスごっこをする毎日。砂浜で鍛えあげられた足腰が自慢です。陽気で人懐っこい性格で、初めてまると接する人は「柴犬とは思えない、陽気な性格だね」とよく驚かれます。柴犬という犬種の性格は主人に忠実で決して他人には懐かないというイメージがあるからです。人間と同じで犬だって100匹集まれば100通りの性格があるのです

Every morning on the beach, together with the sunrise, he'd play make-believe with me like a golden-retriever. I'd show off my buff legs on the sandy beach. He was a friendly dog, and the first time people met him, they were surprised. "He doesn't seem like a shiba-inu, he has a sociable personality, huh?" The shiba-inu breed is primarily known for being loyal, never for being the kind of dog that you can hold and pet. Like with humans, if you have a hundred dogs, there will be a hundred different kinds of personalities.
