1.　クライアントの関心事を査定する際に、クライアントの説明に捉われてしまわずに、実は何が言いたいのかを読み取ろう。
2.　より良く理解し、気づき、明白になるよう、質問して導き出そう。
3.　クライアントのために、クライアントの潜在的な関心、クライアントが自分自身と周りの世界を認知する典型的な方法、事実と解釈との間の差異、考えと感情とアクションとの間の相違を発見しよう。
