鉄を濡れたまま放置しておくとサビが出ます。これは鉄の酸化、つまり鉄が空気中の酸素と反応して酸化鉄になる化学反応です。化学反応が起こるときに出る熱を利用したものが「カイロ」です。

カイロを使用する時の注意

カイロが直接肌に触れることを避け、下着の上から付けるか、ハンカチやポーチなどに包んで使うようにします。『貼るタイプ』の場合は、絶対肌に直接貼らないこと。また衣服に貼った場合でも時折位置をずらすようにしてください。
