最初に浮かんできたのは、小さなボールが跳ねていて、そのボールを手まりでもするように手でボールをはたこうとしているＲの姿です。わが道を行く、物事に動じない。大抵の猫はマイペースですが、Ｒはその中でも特に肝の据わったマイペースタイプに感じられました。

Ｒは、呼ぶとすぐに暗闇の中から現れて私の前にお行儀よくきちんと座りまっすぐ私を見つめてくれました。「に頼まれて来ました。お話をしてもいい？」と尋ねると、２度うなずいてくれました。
