誰かにやれと言われたわけではないが、自分の中で何かがはじけたように突然私は全速力で突っ走り始めた。毎日塾の夏期講習に通って、朝から塾が閉まるまで夏休みの宿題を何度も何度も解いた。それまでの夏休みの宿題は、夏休みが終わる直前に答えを写してぎりぎりに提出していた。しかし今回は宿題の冊子に答えを書きこまず、何度もコピーを取って同じページを完璧になるまで繰り返した。私のそれまでの中学校での勉強の成績は良くもなく悪くもなく、勉強を頑張ったという記憶はない。

Nobody told me to do so, but all of sudden I started running full speed as something has popped inside of me.I went to summer course in cram school every day and threw myself into homework for summer vacation time after time for whole day. I used to make a copy of the answer for the homework just before the end of the summer vacation, but for this time I decided to photocopy the pages of the booklet and worked on the same page repeatedly until everything was perfect instead of writing down the answers in the booklet. I had never studied that hard as I hadn't made neither good nor bad grade in junior high school before then.
