現在、東京都では1964年以来56年ぶりとなる2020年東京オリンピック開催に向けて招致活動に取り組んでいる。すでに今年5月23日に、ケベックで行われたIOC理事会において、イスタンブール、マドリッドとともに立候補都市として選考されている。

Currently, Tokyo is working on bidding the 2020 Olympic games which is the first time in 56 years, since the last time was in 1964. On May 23 this year, Tokyo was already selected a candidate city for the Olympics by IOC execs in Quebec, along with Istanbul and Madrid.
