私は独学で写真技術を学び始め、できる限りの時間を勉強に充てるようにしていました。昼夜問わず、電車の中から浴室・トイレまで、いたるところで常に本を片手に時間を惜しむようにして学んでは、それを実践するようにしていました。
私は、やがてモノクロ写真に 感光紙の現像用液、着色用の溶液など様々な製品や素材を組み合わせながら自分で色をつけていく手法に惹かれるようになりました。私はすぐにこの技術を上達させ、その熱意を今度は仕事へと結び付けていくことができるようになりました。

I began to learn photographic technology by myself and I would devote as much time as possible to study. Day and night, on the train, in the bathroom and even in the toilet of all places, I would always have my book in hand and dedicate all my precious time to practicing.
Before long I became fascinated by a technique where I would apply the colors to black and white photos myself while combining a variety of products and materials such as development liquid for photosensitive paper and color solution. I was soon able to improve this technique and started to be able to apply that enthusiasm to my work.
