When I first got to the space, the thought that came to mind was, wow. Apart from being conveniently located in the city, it stands out being one of the few beautifully designed low-rises with vintage decor in the midst of 50-storey skyscrapers. In fact, the building used to be a real butter factory back in the day, and I thought I got the address wrong when I first stood in front of the 158 year old heritage-listed building, because it wrote “Butter Manufacturers Dairy Produce Merchants Exporters Since 1855.”

初めてその空間に足を踏み入れた時、私は「おお！」と驚いたのだった。市内の便利な場所に位置していることは確かなのだが、この美しくデザインされたヴィンテージ感のある低層の建物は、50階建ての超高層ビルの真ん中で目立っている。実際、この建物は以前には本物のバター工場だったのだ。ここを訪れる際、建造からは158年経過しており、まるで遺跡のリストに名前が載っていそうなこの建物を初めて目の前にした時、私はどうも住所を間違えたらしい、と思ったのだった。なぜなら、そこには「バター製造・乳製品販売輸出、1855年創業」と書かれていたからだ。
