If you have a chance, you can try to check your defective mouse(you mentioned it is sensor issue).

As the mouse have a “lift-off function, some user didn’t learning his mouse pad correctly may end up with the mouse stop tracking, it would　be　like the mouse sensor is defective but the sensor is ok.
