The new app replaces the stale-looking old one as well as adding support for the popular iPad. It brings the TV station more in line with the good-looking apps from the likes of CNN and the BBC. Unfortunately, the Android version is still stuck in the digital Dark Ages, and also needs this kind of refresh at some point.

Articles can be downloaded within the new app for offline reading – which is a good feature that not many news apps bother with. But then Channel NewsAsia goes and spoils it all by only allowing these to be viewable for three days. So you’d still be better off using Instagram or Pocket (formerly ReadItLater) for saving items to read at your leisure.

このアプリは、既に人気のあるiPadの人気を後押しし、古臭い旧式のものにとって代わるものとなる。　このテレビ局も、このアプリを使えば、CNNやBBCのような格好のいい局の仲間入りができる。残念ながら、アンドロイドバージョンは、デジタルの暗黒時代から抜け出させておらず、今後、こんなタイプのリフレッシュが必要になるだろう。

オフラインで読む場合には、記事をこの新しいアプリ内にダウンロードできる。つまり、たくさんのアプリを使う手間がいらないということだ。しかし、これは3日間のみ閲覧可能で、その後、NewsAsiaにより、消去されてしまう。だから、好きな時間に記事を読むには、インスタグラムやPocket（正式には、ReadltLater）使って保存したほうが安心だろう。
