ジャッキーさんは１９９８年、夫で元米海兵隊岩国基地隊員のマークさん(46)の赴任に伴い岩国市へ。４人の子どもを育てながら英会話や料理などを教えてきた。「互いに関心があっても、日本人が基地に入るには手続きが煩雑で、米国人が市内の施設を借りるには語学のハンディがある。もっと自由に行き来できる場所を作りたかった」と開設の理由を話す。
施設内の設備は３時間４千円から貸し出すほか、講師と生徒を日米双方から募集し、英会話や料理、手芸、生け花などのレッスンを開講していく予定だ。
Mrs. Jacky went to Iwakuni-city because of the new assignment of her husband Mr. Mark who is 46 years old and was the american marine soldier in the base of Iwakuni city previously. She has been taught English speaking and cooking bringing up 4 children. She told me the reason of opening like "Though people are intersten in each other, it requires a complicated process for Japanese to enter the base and the American people are handicapped of language and have difficulty in renting the institution in the city."
They are planning not only to lend the appliance of the institution by 4000yen for 3 hours, but also to gether the lecture and the studenets of both Japan and the US and to start the lesson such as of english speaking, cooking, fancy work or flora art.
