「パラベン」とは化粧品用の防腐剤として使われる成分です。合成の防腐剤としては最も微量で安全性が高く、皮膚への刺激も少ないため、多くの化粧品に使用されてきましたが、800人に1人くらいの割合でアレルギー性があることが判明しています。アレルギー性ということで、かつては厚生省の指定成分にもなっていました。
