送った棟方の画像の右上にはAraiの名前が筆で書いてあり、同様に
右下には棟 志功（Muna Shiko）と漢字で書いてある。
当初、私は著者の荒井が棟方を慕って画風をまねて描いたのだと思っていたが、
本屋から「これは棟方本人による挿絵だ」と説明を受けた。
確かに、日本では敬う人の名前の上に
自分の名前を書くことは失礼な行為だとして避けられる。
話は変わるが、あなたは比毛一朗(Ichiro Hike)氏を知っていますか？

They seem to have had only one Munakata, Shiko’s article which photo I send to you. （状況がわからないので）
I think you can see on the painting th sign of “Arai” on the right upper side and a sign “Muna Shiko (both in Kanji)at the bottom right.
At first I thought “Arai” painted it after the manner of “Munakata”; however, the seller told me that it was a genuine Munakata’s artwork.
Surely it should be regarded as rude in Japan to write down your name on the article of your respected person. It must be absolutely avoided.
By the way, to change the subject. Do you know Ichiro Hike?
