子授け・安産の御利益があると言われ、「山中明神安産祭り」として知られる。村民の中にはこのお祭り以外の祭りには参加したくないというほど、このお祭りに情熱を注ぐ者もいる。主祭神は豊玉姫命。4日の宵祭りの18時30分に諏訪神社を出発した神輿は村道を練り歩き約1km先の神輿の仮宿となる旅所に一晩安置され、お礼参り、お百度参りの妊婦や婦人で賑わう。5日の本祭りには、おなかの大きい妊婦や子どもを背負った母親、子どもに恵まれたいと願う女性が神輿につながる珍しい光景のみれる祭りである。
What's called the conception after the shrine visit, easy delivery, and the miracle of God is known as "Yamanaka Myojin easy childbirth". To the extent that the villagers don't want to participate in any festivals other than this one, they pour their passion into this festival. The principal deity is Toyota Mahime. At 6:30pm on the fourth day of the small festival before the main festival the portable shrine departs from Suwa Shrine and is paraded for about one kilometre along the village road and is installed in the place for the scared palanquin for one night as a temporary lodging, and is crowded with pregnant women and adult women visiting the shrine one hundred times. On the 5th day of the regular festival, of the pregnant women with large stomachs and the mothers carrying children on their backs, the women that want to be blessed with children join together with the portable shrine. It's a festival with an unusual spectacle.
祭りが始まったのは、江戸時代後期と伝えられている。神輿に女性がさわるとご祭神のご利益で安産や子宝に恵まれるといわれているため、神輿が御旅所に到着したときと神社本殿に戻ってきたとき、参拝に来られた女性が神輿の周りに殺到することから安産祭りといわれるようになった。
山中諏訪神社は別名を山中明神(やまなかみょうじん)といい、地元ではお明神様(おみょうじんさま)と呼ばれている。ご祭神は豊玉姫命。隣接して山中浅間神社(祭神 木花開耶姫命、天津彦火々瓊々杵尊、 大山祇命) がある。
It's said that the festival started in the latter half of the Edo period. When the women touch the shrine, with the grace of the enshrined deity it's said that they will be blessed with easy childbirth and an abundance of children, so when the shrine arrives at the place where the palanquin is stored, when it returns to the inner sanctuary of the shrine, women who come to pay homage at the shrine rush around the palanquin, so this is called the easy childbirth festival.
Yamanaka Suwa Shrine's pseudonym Yamanak Myojin is good, and is called the great god (O-myojin-sama) in the local area. The enshrined deity is called Toyota Mahime. Adjoining it is Yamanaka Asama Shrine (the enshrined deities being Konohana Sakuyabime, Amatsu Hikohiko Hononinigi, and Oyama Tsumi).
山中諏訪神社の祭神。海や水を支配する海神の娘であり、孫は神武天皇である。そのことから子孫繁栄・安産・縁結びの神様として広く知られている。浦島太郎の物語の竜宮城の乙姫様のモデルにもなったとされる。お産をするときに八尋和邇(ワニ・もしくはサメ)になるといわれる。
5日の夜に神輿がご神木を3周するときに使用する歌。主に氏子が唱える。
人皇十代崇神天皇の御代七年(西暦104)、国中に疫病が蔓延。勅命をもって土人創杞しましたが、これが山中諏訪神社(山中諏訪明神)の起源と伝えられています。
Yamanaka Suwa Shrine's enshrined deities. There is the daughter of the sea gods which rule the ocean and water, and the grandchild is Shinmu Tenno. These are widely known as the gods of the perpetuation of the descendants, easy childbirth, and the god of marriage. This was modelled on Princess Atsu from The Palace of the Dragon King in the legend of Taro Urashima. When she gave birth, it was said to be Yahiro Wani (Wani or Same).
On the evening of the 5th day, when the palanquin makes 3 circuits of the sacred tree, a song is used. The principle shrine parishioners chant it. In the tenth generation of Jinno, during Emperor Sujin's seven-year reign (AD 104), a plague spread throughout the country. The natives that had the imperial command were affected, and this is taught as being the origin of the Yamanaka Suwa Shrine (Yamanak Suwa Myojin).
諏訪の宮(豊玉姫命)が、明神山(みょうじんやま)の山頂にある山中諏訪神社の奥宮(おくみや)から神社本殿にいらっしゃるとき、右龍と左龍の二頭の白龍を従えておいでになる、と解釈されている。また、『もそろげにもそろ』については、「妊婦が、幾度もさしこんでくる陣痛の難行苦行をのりこえて身二ツとなる、その有様が山中湖村の明神様の御神輿の納まり方であるし、一面明神様が妊婦の苦しみを片替わりしてくれるものでもあろう」と述べられている。さらに、もうそろそろ生まれるだろうという意味もある。
Suwa Shrine (Toyota Mahime), from the Yamanaka Suwa Shrine's rear shrine (Okumiya) on the summit of Myojin-san, when you go into the main shrine, accompanied by the two faces of the white dragon on the left and right dragons, is explained as such. In addition, regarding "Mosoroge ni mosoro", it is said that "for pregnant women to overcome the hardship of labour pains that flow in many times, the palanquin of Yamanaka Lake village's great God has a way of settling that condition, and one side of the great God compensates for the hardship of pregnant women". Furthermore, it also has the meaning of giving birth sooner.
