危険予知トレーニングは、危険（Kiken）のK、予知（Yochi）のY、トレーニング（Training）のTをとって、KYTという。
職場の作業の中に潜む“危険要因”（労働災害や事故の原因となる可能性のある不安全行動や不安全状態）とそれが引き起こす“現象（事故の型）”探す
職場小集団で話し合い、考えを共有する（または1人で自問自答する）
