1947年、カラマズー製のギブソンL-5。シリアルはA-202。ヘッドロゴは1930年代に見られるものですが、シリアルでは1947年製になります。
1923年にデビューしたL-5は、世間に知れ渡った初のアーチトップギターといえるギターです。生産中止となったあと、大戦後の1947年にカスタムオーダーベースで再生産されました。この個体は白ラベルのアーティストシリアル「202」のため、その最初期型になります。

ブックマッチで作られたパラレルブレーシングのスプルース単板トップ。トーンウッドとして現在の常識を覆す極上のメイプル単板バック。サイドには見事な木目のカーリーメイプルをもちろん単板で使用。ネックは輝く木目を持つメイプルネックは完全にストレートな状態で、かつロッドに十分な余裕がある状態であることから、当時の木材の豊富さを思わせます。
A serial began from A-100 "L-7"manufactured in April 28, 1947. This guitar was manufactured soon after that date.
Parallel bracing spruce single plate top made through book-matching. The highest quality maple single-plate back that defies current conventional wisdom. The attractively-grained curly maple single plate is used on the side. The maple neck with shining grain is completely straight with enough rod space, which suggests abundant wood at that time.
エボニー指板、牛骨ナットはオリジナル。フレットは打ち代え有りですが、ナットはオリジナルを活かしての見事な施工です。極上のトーンウッド、ハカランダ製のブリッジを搭載。
ペグはオリジナルでスムーズに機能しています。本物のベッコウでできたピックガードは残念ながら大きなダメージがあります。また、付属ハードケースはオリジナルではありません。それ以外の部分には目立ったキズもなく、ミュージアムクラスの1本となっています
The ebony finger board and the cow bone nut are the original. The fret is being substituted, but the nuts are wonderfully placed taking advantage of the original. The exquisite tone wood and the bridge made from Jacaranda are mounted.
The pegs are original and work smoothly. Unfortunately, the pick guard made from tortoise shell has a serious damage. Also,the attached hard case is not original. The rest of the parts has no significant scratches. It is one of the guitars worth to be exhibited in a museum.
