私の趣味はラジオを聴くことだ。最近、日本の若者ではラジオを聴く人が非常に少なくなってきていて、友人にも同じ趣味を持っている人はほとんどいない。しかし私はテレビよりラジオの方が圧倒的に好きである。なぜなら、ニュース番組以外のテレビ番組は映像を客観的に見るだけだが、ラジオはパーソナリティが語りかけてくるスタイルが多く、リスナーからのメールなどが多いため、聴いていて社会との繋がりを感じて落ち着くからである。テレビと違って、聴きながら他の作業ができることもラジオの良い点である。
My hobby is listening to the radio. Of late the number of young people in Japan who listen to the radio has become extremely small, and almost none of my friends share this hobby with me. But I overwhelmingly prefer radio to television. That's because except for news shows, programs on television just involve watching video footage passively, while on radio there are personalities who talk in many different styles, and there is lots of mail sent in by listeners, so by listening to radio one can feel one is connected to society, which has a calming effect. Another advantage of radio is that unlike television, one can listen to the radio while doing other things.
