I am sorry for the delay getting back to you - I have been looking into this for you.
My manager explained that the box in reference is actually a box that is put there for the sole purpose of protecting the watch box. Therefore, if it gets damaged it is ok - as it is meant to protect the watch box in the event of any damage.
In this case, it looks like it probably did it's job - taking the damage so the watch box would not be harmed :)
