薬師三尊像が祀られているのはこちらの金堂です。
かつての戦火に焼け落ち、４００年以上仮堂のままの状態だったため、金堂再建は歴代の薬師寺住職たちの悲願だったと言います。
この金堂は1967年からおよそ１０年の歳月をかけて、高田好胤師が全国で１００万巻の写経を集めることで資金を工面し、白鳳時代様式の本格的な金堂として復興しました。
金堂の中に祀られた薬師三尊像。
見るものが思わず息を飲む荘厳な雰囲気です。
薬師三尊とは、仏教における仏像安置の形式の一つ。

The three statues of Yakushi is enshrined in the inner temple of this place.
It was burn down in the past with the fires of war, and since the temporary hall remain as it is for more than 400 years, it is said that reconstruction of the inner temple was a long-cherished wish of the Yakushiji Temple priests.
This inner hall took about 10 years starting from 1967, wherein Reverent Takada Kouin gathered 1 million copies of sutras around the country and raised the fund, and it was revived as a full pledged inner temple using the Hakuho period style.
