石巻市雄勝町ここも津波によって甚大な被害があった場所です。
この町にある、荒浜海水浴場には地元の方々が力を合わせて作った「雄勝希望のキャンバス」がある。40mにおよぶ白いキャンバスは、海に向かって作られており、地元の皆様の復興に向けた力強いメッセージが書かれていました。キャンバス中央には日本を代表する著名漫画家の井上雄彦氏が水平線を見る少年少女を描いている。少年少女の目線の先に何が見えてるのかな。この壁を作る際に使われた木材は津波被害にあった杉や瓦礫を組み合わせて作ったそうです
There was also heavy damage from the tsunami in Ogatsucho in Ishinomaki City.
Near the Arahama swimming beach, there is a large canvas called "Ogatsucho's Hope" that was made by the residents here. The white, 40-meter long canvas was built facing the ocean and is covered with messages expressing people's hopes of reviving the community. In the center of the canvas is a depiction of a young boy and girl staring out at the horizon drawn by the well-know manga artist Inoue Takehiko, but we cannot see exactly what it is they are looking at. This large canvas wall was built using wreckage and uprooted Japanese cedar trees from the tsunami.
