But if one could put it on the stage in the spontaneous theatre either in the form of a Punch and Judy show or as the Commedia dell' Arte, I am sure that something would come out that would be of real value in the field of literature as well as in the fields of physical planning and plastic art. I believe that, from the point of view of social vitality, it is in this way -getting down to the roots of reality -that we can find the key to freedom for a society which is seeking a variety of means of self-expression. I believe that this basically is the role of a living theatre, at all times -to set before us the intensity of life, the great moments of life.
