It’s still relatively early days for these messaging apps, so they’re dwarfed by more established Asian social networks such as China’s Sina Weibo and the video site Youku.

Perx has been actively partnering with key industry players to expand their reach. 4 Must-Have Real-Time Traffic Apps For Philippine Commuters and Drivers

Traffic is one of the biggest problems the Philippines has not yet solved. Traffic-regulating bodies in the country are currently working out some new regulations for both public and private vehicles to lessen the traffic on major roads.

But while this is a thing yet to be resolved, here are some must-have and noteworthy apps that can help any public transport commuter or private vehicle driver slip through the Metro Manila traffic:

Apart from the app, the same makers also recently launched the MMDA Traffic Mirror site which provides users a live feed of the traffic situation.

Waze

Waze uses a different approach in traffic reporting. It is known as a social traffic app as it uses crowdsourcing to collate traffic information. We earlier noted how it was used in Indonesia in holiday traffic jams. It is also gaining traction in the Philippines. App analytics site Distimo shows that, in the past quarter, it ranks as the second most downloaded navigation app in the Philippines.

Waze

The trains in Manila are usually really crowded. Comparatively, it is even more crowded than the trains in Singapore and Hong Kong. So the app also provides an estimate of the crowdedness of the stations. In 2012, the app won the Globe Choice Award in the Google Global Android DevCamp Manila.

Of course, no app is guaranteed accurate all the time, so these apps can even complement each other and give a big picture of the scene on the roads. So let’s be more prepared before hitting the road!

MRTtrackr

Apart from guides on road traffic, there’s also MRTtrackr. Launched in 2012, it’s an Android app to guide train riders. In the Philippine capital, there are three train lines: the MRT, LRT-1 and LRT-2. So, the app provides guides on the user’s proximity to the nearest station, and alerts the user when they’ve reached the station and even the time it takes for the next train to arrive.

Like the other apps, it has a map where users can track the traffic situation through colored markers which signify light, moderate, or heavy traffic. In addition to this feature, the makers of the app note that Filipinos have the habit of venting traffic situations through social media sites. So it was made in a way that users of the app can report traffic – and find info – through a social feed it calls ‘stream.’ Apart from the information collated through reports, it also uses Twitter to source information. It includes in its stream all the traffic-related tweets in the Philippines in the last three hours.

A coach will not receive a passing score for direct communication on the ACC exam if the coach does not attend to the client’s agenda, changes the agenda without input from the client, or appears attached to a particular outcome or solution. The coach will also not receive a passing grade on the ACC exam if the communication frequently occurs in a convoluted, meandering, or circuitous manner.

This Bus App From China is So Good It Makes Me Actually Want To Ride The Bus

I prefer the subway to the bus – there’s more chance of getting a seat, the AC is never broken, and I’m less likely to get elbowed by a granny as I step aboard. Plus, waiting for a bus can feel like being in a Beckett play. “Nothing happens. Nobody comes, nobody goes. It’s awful.” But one good-looking new app called Pandabus is looking to take some of the guesswork out of riding the bus in China.

私が好きなのはバスよりも地下鉄である ｰバスより座れて、エアコンが壊れていることもなく、乗車する際の老人が押しのけてくることも少ない。バスを待っているとBeckett の演劇のようである。 「何も起こらない。誰の行き来もない。ひどいものである。」だがPandabusというかっこいい新アプリが中国でバスに乗ることのわずらわしさを解決してくれる。

The Pandabus app works in both Chinese and English (though the maps and bus stop names are inevitably in Chinese) and uses your phone’s GPS to find your location and show all buses in the area. It also shows how often those buses run, but sadly it lacks real-time bus tracking, so you’ll have a better – if not exact idea – of how long to wait for your ride.

Pandabus – which launched on Android this week after an earlier debut on iOS – makes a lot of use of maps to help you find the nearest bus stop. You can also use the maps in the app to drop a pin at your desired destination and Pandabus will then show you all the possible routes to get to that area. It’s so good I want to actually take the bus to test it out.

Pandabusは今週Android版でローンチした。すでにiOS版ではローンチ済みである。地図を多数使用し最も近いバス停を見つけてくれる。アプリ上の地図を使用して希望目的地にピンを立てることができ、Pandabusではそのエリアに通じる可能ルートをすべて表示してくれる。非常にすばらしいので実際にバスに乗って試してみたい。

As rival Chinese startup 8684 has shown, there’s a lot of money in public transport apps in the country – well, so long as you have some grand plan to monetize them eventually. Pandabus has nothing so far (not even any ads), so hopefully there’s a business model in there somewhere to build more of these good-looking and useful apps.

10. AliExpress

China-based AliExpress, part of the Alibaba Group, is also making waves in the Philippines. It’s part of the top 500 most visited sites in the Philippines according to Alexa’s rankings. Just recently, AliExpress restructured its platform to become a global e-commerce platform for either small businesses to buy in bulk or individual shoppers to buy single items. Now, purchases made by customers in the Philippines can be directly sent to the buyer’s home from the merchants in China.

10. AliExpress

中国の通販サイトAliExpressはAlibaba Group会社の一部であるが、フィリピンに波紋を投じている。Alexaによるランキングでは、AliExpressは、フィリピンのアクセス数ランキングの上位500に入った。つい最近AliExpressはプラットフォームを再構築し、世界的イーコマースプラットフォームとなった。そのプラットフォームで小企業が大量購入、もしくは個人が少量の買い物ができる。現在、フィリピンで買い物した商品は中国の出店者から買い物客の住所へ直接配送される。
