Hello everyone,

My name is Tim. I was born in South Korea, but I have been living in New York since I was 6 years old.
I have my BA in Northeast Asian Studies and an MS in TESOL and I teach full time at an all English language learner high school; I teach Global history. Since I was in high school, I have been an avid foreign language enthusiast. I love learning and practicing different languages. In my school, I use at least 3 languages a day on the average. I studied Spanish since I was in middle school. When I was in college I studied: Korean, Chinese, and Russian. I studied abroad at Beijing University (Bei Da) for a year during my junior year. I also know some basic Swedish from independently studying while I was in high school preparing for a tour choir trip to Sweden. I have done some translation work in Chinese. I have taken and passed both the NSA and FBI written Chinese exams when I was thinking about working in the government sector. One of my goals is to get my certification in translation. In the meantime, I will prepare for the Chinese language exam to receive my bilingual extension certificate for teaching in New York City public schools. Nowadays, I try to polish my language skills by practicing speaking, reading, and through independent studying. I have been looking for a way to sharpen and maintain my language skills. I hope by joining this community, I will do just that.
