まるこめ (marukome)

Six-year experience in translation. Resident of Tokyo. Translate English and Japanese. My strong fields are business correspondence, politics/sociology, news article, literature, and welfare, etc... Available during 9-16 o'clock and 22-0 o'clock on weekdays.

Personal history:

After working in a department store for three years, I went to Northern Ireland to realize my dream since my childhood, which is to live abroad, and largely lived off the land, helping each other with volunteers from various nationalities and with mentally disabled people for three years. After returning to Japan, I worked in a caring business for four years. Later, I studied international politics in university, which I always had been interested in, and now I am a freelance translator.
What I am especially careful about when translating is to make the translation accurate and easy to read as much as possible, following what the original text is trying to convey. I also try to avoid exaggeration and omission, using literal translation and free translation properly, and complete with natural sentences.
For the future, I would especially like to challenge translation of politics/sociology, and academic field. However, I would like to make myself grow through various fields of translation continuously as before. Please feel free to ask me about my schedule. 経歴:

百貨店に3年間勤務後、子供の頃から憧れていた海外暮らしを実現する為に北アイルランドへ渡航し、3年間様々な国籍の方々とボランティアとして、知的障害者と共にほぼ自給自足の助け合いの生活を送りました。
日本に帰国後は介護に4年従事。その後常々関心のあった国際政治を大学で専攻し、現在はフリーランスの翻訳家をしております。
翻訳をする際、特に気をつけていることは原文が伝えようとしていることを可能な限り正確に、読みやすい訳にすることです。また、誇張や省略は避け、直訳と意訳を適宜使いわけるようにして自然な文章に仕上げるように努めております。
今後は、特に政治・社会系、学術系の分野にも挑戦したいと思いますが、引き続き様々な分野の翻訳を介し幅広く自己成長していきたいと考えております。翻訳対応時間は平日9-16時まで、22-0時まで可能ですが、スケジュールは柔軟に対応できるためお気軽にお問い合わせください。
