Currently I mainly work as a goldsmith, but the feeling and understanding of forms has originated in the period of training as a silversmith by making teapots, plates, spoons… The pure and simple forms I learned to love in those days are still the basics of my work. There is a connection between all the pieces I made and it is possible to understand the permanent process. It is important for me to see the development. Light and shadow and the contrast between fore- and background are the only “decoration” of my work, which I support with different surfaces. XXXX XXXXXXXX The stainless-steel balls I create are based on a traditional ball from Southeast Asia, used in a game called sepak raga in Malaysia. There it is made from rattan cane and is very light. I have added another layer to the traditional weave and the ball consists of 16 pieces of rope. There are thus 32 ends hidden within the ball. The rope is usually used for rigging onships and for heavy lifting gear and although it is very expensive I enjoy working with it because it is uniform throughout its length and is naturally springy, forming perfect circles without any kinks or bulges.

XXX XXXXXX Lavoro principalmente come orafa, ma la mia conoscenza e sensibilità verso le forme si è sviluppata durante il periodo in cui apprendevo l’arte della lavorazione dell’argento, creando teiere, vassoi e cucchiai... Le forme semplici e pure che ho appreso ad amare in quei giorni sono ancora alla base del mio lavoro. C’è una connessione tra tutti i pezzi che creo ed è possibile capire il procedimento permanente della lavorazione. Per me è molto importante osservare questo sviluppo. La luce e l’ombra e il contrasto tra il primo piano e lo sfondo sono l’unica “decorazione” del mio lavoro, che mantengo con varie finiture. XXXX XXXXXXXX Le sfere in acciaio inox che creo prendono spunto da un tipo di palla originaria del sud-est asiatico usata in un gioco chiamato in Malesia sepak raga . Lì è prodotta con la canna di rattan ed è molto leggera. Ho aggiunto un altro strato all’intreccio originale e la palla è formata da 16 pezzi di corda, le cui estremità, 32, rimangono nascoste all’interno. La corda è usata solitamente per il sartiame delle navi e per apparecchi di sollevamento di carichi pesanti. Sebbene sia molto cara, amo lavorarla perché è uniforme per tutta la sua lunghezza ed è per natura elastica, forma dei tondi perfetti senza pieghe né bozze.
