Japan’s total population is projected to shrink by 30 percent to just 87 million by 2060. By that period, people 65 and older will make up 40 percent of the country’s population. The forecast puts pressure on the government as the labor force also shrinks.

Analysts have come to blame the low fertility rate on Japan’s inadvertence when it comes to making babies.

“The most important reason for Japan’s declining birthrate is less sex,” says Dr. Kunio Kitamara, director of Japan’s Family Planning Research Centre.

Japanese women also struggle with taking care of children while seeking full-time employment, leading many to pursue their careers over domestic priorities.

The population of pets in Japan has outpaced the number of children aged 15 and under in Japan since 2003, highlighting the downtrend in the country’s birthrate, which fell to a record-low 16.33 million as of April 1.

The fascination of this story has much to do with the way it is told. In Fiennes' handling, very little is stated in a straightforward or obvious way. It's almost as if he took Abi Morgan's screenplay (adapted from Claire Tomalin's book) and stripped away its most utilitarian dialogue, leaving only hints and suggestions of emotions that then must be fleshed out by the actors. After a spate of building problems and public protests in Brazil, the governing body of world football, Fifa, repeatedly warned there would be "no compromise" over the delivery of World Cup stadiums.

But with Fifa's end-of-year deadline looming, several stadiums are well behind schedule and one host city, Cuiaba, has told the BBC that not only will be it unable to finish its stadium on time, but there are not even enough hotel rooms for visiting fans.

Even though Fifa only insisted on a minimum of eight stadiums to host the World Cup, Brazil decided to go with 12, such was the interest and demand from all parts of this huge nation to be a part of the tournament.

Taking Social Translation to Europe: Conyac at ICT Spring in Luxembourg

Conyac team has just returned from Luxembourg, where we attended the ICT Spring Conference. At the 2-day event we learned about the latest ICT technologies and solutions, listened to inspiring keynotes, met many potential partners and introduced Conyac to the European market.

Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Tokyo invited us to attend the conference along with 9 other Japanese startups. Our Japanese group was warmly welcomed by members of the Luxembourg Consulate in Tokyo, Japanese Embassy in Luxembourg, government officials, financial experts and local business leaders.

What are the member roles?

"Admin" has full authority for its group and member settings. Admin can purchase points and access request details for entire organization.

"Managers" have full access to payment and request history of the organization. However, they cannot edit group settings or purchase points.

"Members" can participate in the group by making a request with the organization's points. They have limited access to organization's profile, as they can only view own payment and request history.
